Bassist Needed For Rock Band- OH – 883957

Posted on 19 December 2010

12-18-10 – Cleveland, OH>Detroit, MI – Drummer, guitarist and lead singer looking for a bass player – age isn’t critical, – we are really enthusiastic and energized about music but we aren’t looking to “rock & roll all night and party every day” (though we still can rock well into the night!). Yes, we can still “bring it”! You don’t need to be Jack Bruce or Stanley Clarke, just competent, tight and a fan of our kind of music. A few beers okay, no smokers. We all live in Lakewood, and we are all blessed with great families and good day jobs, so it might help if you are in a similar station of life.

Now, onto the music: we play a lot of originals (good songs, actually) as well as some covers. Taken together, the songs we play are somewhat eclectic, but definitely rock – influences too many to name but range from blues influenced ‘60s and ‘70s pop-rock to American & British punk to modern day stuff. I guess the common thread is everything seems to be melodic and rhythmic. The upper limit on “heavy” would be ‘90s / Seattle sound (which we like but haven’t done much of yet in the current combo) and the lower limit on “soft” would be Beatles / Byrds kind of sound. I don’t see us doing any ballads, but I could be wrong. All of us have legit stage and studio experience from the ‘70s through 2010. We are serious about making good music and performing it well, but we try not to take ourselves too seriously. Our current mission is to polish-up a set of originals and a few covers, record them (our drummer is competent with the home studio thing) and occasionally play-out on a Friday or Saturday. Given that we have high school aged kids, we are maybe just a few years away from taking this a little further. But for now, it’s 2 – 3 hours, one night per week. Not a big time commitment, but definitely a situation where coming to practice prepared to play is still important. As you can see, the immediate goal is to feed the soul by playing some good music rather than supplement our incomes.

If this sounds like a fit for you, please reply. We can e-mail some mp3s to give you an idea of our stuff and maybe get together for coffee / beer to talk. Thanks for reading through all of this!
