Seeking Guitarist – Detroit MI – 996394

05-31-11 – Detroit, MI>Cleveland, OH – Our band, STATION (formerly 40 HELMET), is currently looking for a seasoned guitarist to take on the role of Lead/Rhythm guitarist in our band.
A little bit about the band. . ..We’ve been together and gigging now for roughly 5 years. We have a steady gig currently in Royal Oak that we play monthly for good pay, and we have gigs on the books to the end of 2011. We all have day jobs and we are looking to gig out roughly two times a month. We don’t play shows that aren’t worth it for all of us financially. That’s not to say that we don’t do this to have fun, because we do, but we take it very seriously as well and want it to be worth our time. We put on a high energy performance playing dance/rock/pop songs from the 70s to today’s most current music. We’ve always taken a hard line on song selection in that we don’t play what most other cover bands play (you all know those songs). We try to keep our selection edgy and different, but still very danceable. We have a pretty strong following and pack the house each show. We’re looking to keep the same vibe and the same high energy performances with a new member. The best way to sum us up is that we aren’t a cover band that plays rock tunes, we’re a rock band that plays cover tunes.
What we’re looking for. . ..We need a guy to come in and get up to speed quickly on our current set list. Most of this will be rhythm based playing, but there will also be some lead involved as well (nothing too demanding). Also, there are a few songs we do that require backing vocals, so someone who can sing and play would be ideal. We aren’t power drinkers or drug users, so keep that nonsense out. We all like to have some beers at the shows and have a good time, but we put our performance before getting wasted. Everyone has seen that band that is too drunk to play and that’s not what we want. We don’t need any egos as well. We’re all laid back and we want someone who is laid back as well. We need someone with pro gear, on-stage experience, and a pro attitude. A good supply of effects or the ability to add effects when needed is a must. We would like someone in our age group (mid 20′s to late 30′s) if possible as well.
We currently practice out of the Hive in Warren and each pay an equal share into the rent each month. The new member would be expected to do this as well unless they had a better solution for a practice space. We have a practice PA for vocals at our practice space and meet once a week. Currently we only do covers, but we are open to the idea of doing originals in the future once the cover portion is solid and gig ready.
