01-11-12 – Reno, NV>San Francisco, CA – Description of Play: In this classic Christie thriller, eight strangers gather for a weekend at a country house on an island off the coast of Devon, England. Neither they nor the married couple hired as domestics have met their host, but all are accused of murder by his disembodied voice on a gramophone. The alleged killers soon learn that they are trapped on the island as, one by one, they die. Each death is executed in accordance with a nursery rhyme, “Ten Little Soldier Boys,” framed over the mantelpiece. In every verse, one of the little soldiers is dispatched in a way that mimics the demise of each guest. After three murders, it is clear that the unknown host is one of them. All will surely perish, unless the last two standing can trust each other long enough to foil the plot of Mr. Unknown.
