Judy Taylor is the VP of Casting and Talent Relations for the Disney Channel. When Judy was casting for High School Musical, all of the actors and actresses were already working actors but did not have their big break yet. Zac Efron had done an arc on Summerland and had actually done a pilot for the Disney Channel previously to getting casted on High School Musical. This was a couple of years before Zac Efron’s big break. Vanessa Hudgens had also previously read for Judy Taylor and Disney Channel before but also had not made her big break. Ashley Tisdale was on Sweet Life and Monique Coleman had also auditioned for Disney Channel before. Lucas Grabeel was also in one of of Disney Channel’s Halloween Town movies before. Corbin Bleu had also read for a Disney Channel audition before his big break with High School Musical but was not read before.
When you audition or “read” for casting directors, it is a long process and the casting directors see a lot of actors and actresses auditioning. The next step is casting directors like Judy Taylor from Disney Channel will have a call back process to bring back those actors that they think fits the role the best. From there they will see how well they work cohesively and checks on chemistry and camaraderie.
You have to always be working on your craft as an actor and actress if you want to make it big. Casting directors from Disney Channel are always looking for talent and of course what they call “triple threats” which mean acting, singing and dancing. But for casting directors like Judy Taylor at Disney Channel, you have to have acting as your core because at the Disney Channel, acting is what it is all about. At the end of the day you need to be able to carry the skill of acting, you need to be funny and have comedic skills especially for Disney Channel stars. The triple threat of singing, dancing, and musical talents is the icing on the cake. For the Disney Channel family, acting is the best avenue where you can go down. The beauty of the Disney Channel is that they let their stars and actors stretch their acting muscles and talents. You’ll love it at the Disney Channel so if you get a
11-13-11 – Cleveland, OH>Detroit, MI – Hi, I’m Ashley. My sister Holly and I wanna form a cover band that will blow all the others outta the water!! Both of us come from a musical upbringing, so we’re looking for people who have a natural talent/ear for music. We don’t want to be the classic cover band that plays all the same songs all the other bands play, and that’s it. Ultimately, we’d like to have a basic set list of all the tunes people love to go out and dance to… but also be able to add another 5-10 songs depending on the gig we’re doing. For example… if we’re playing at a biker bar, I’d wanna throw in some extra AC/DC, Led Zepplin, Queen… etc. If we were playing a bar in Lakewood, I’d wanna add some additional top 40 songs to the set list. If we were playing a VFW… I wouldn’t mind playing a few oldies, etc! This band is basically going to be… everything under the sun. Our audience will determine what we play, cause lets face it- if people aren’t having fun and dancing, what’s the point? What we’re looking for is a lead guitarist, bassist, and possibly rhythm guitarist. All musicians should be comfortable singing harmony/back-up vocals. We have a practice location, so that’s not a problem. Age, gender, etc… does not matter! As long as you’re drug free- and passionate about music, we’d love to meet you! We are amicably parting with our current guitarist as he has to come off the road permanently due to a family emergency. So, we are looking for someone to take his place and start the week of July 12.
We will pay for your transportation out here to where we are currenty on tour. All hotels and transportation are paid for. All gigs are paid!
Gigs already lined up from now til November.
