03-02-12 – Detroit, MI>Columbus, OH – Hello, We are a couple of guys, 25 years old, looking to start a metal band that has catchy rhythms, clean vocals and dueling guitars.

Before I start getting into the details of the band, I would like start of by saying that we are very dedicated to our music despite the fact that it isn’t our job.

We want to take this project a little more seriously than just a jam session or a hobby. More importantly, we are looking to make new friends that we get along with whether its music or just hanging out. So for those of you that are interested in joining in, this is an opportunity to hang out, make new friends and establish a new relationships. We are fun, super easy to get along with, and really don’t care for little differences.

Ok now that I have said my little part, on to the goal of the band. What we are aiming for is a metal band that includes a fine balance of elements found in Metal/Progressive/Alternative Rock/Neo-Classical. For example, 4/4 time to odd time signatures, groovy rhythmic changes, dueling guitar solos (harmonization/ sweep picking/ trading leads) and really just all of that awesome heavy metal sound.

The problem is that metal today has a tendency of pushing away listeners not because of the quality of the music, but because of the vocal style is just so off putting (Though we like it ). So we want clean powerful vocals and less growls and screaming going on. See Vocal influence below for more info.

This is what we want (Being really descriptive, I know) :
Bass – I can’t really say much about the bass even though I own one. But as far as bass is concerned we just want some aggressive bass player that knows when to tone it down when needed and can adapt well to dynamic changes.

To give you an idea of what the guitarists like…they do leads that include sweep picking, quick licks/ scale runs, modal leads, heavy downpicking riffs, also clean arpeggiated chords. I mean, we are probably going to try different things and able to build songs together over time. Guitar influences for me are Trivium, Nevermore, Unearth, Lamb of God, Metallica, Static-X, Bullet For My Valentine, All that remains, As I lay Dying, Killswitch engage, Mastodon, Between the buried and me, etc.

So if you enjoy the same kind of stuff, we can probably really get along very well musically.

Keyboard – We thought it would be really awesome for someone to play keyboard to give a fuller sound the our music. I know many keyboardists are classically trained pianists and don’t like to venture off from that but if you are out there, we would really like to have your talent be a part of this project. But looking at bands like Dream Theater, Avenged Sevenfold (Piano), Nevermore, Outworld, and even Disturbed (they use the keyboard as an effects controller during the writing process) just makes killer bands. Please hit me up.

Finally, I’d just like to say that before you respond to this ad, ask yourself if you are really going to be dedicated to this project, making new friendships, and trying to make something out of this experience. It can be a really great experience for all of us if we are open and honest about our expectations from the beginning. Hope to hear from some of you guys/girls soon.
