10-31-11 – Chicago, IL>Milwaukee, WI – Casting for Student Film “Lady Of The Dead”
Synopsis:
Lady of the Dead is a haunting love story written and directed by Caitlin Noah, in which the worlds of the living and the dead collide. Our story takes place on the Mexican holiday Dia De Los Muertos, a day focused on bringing family and friends together to remember and celebrate the lost lives of their loved ones.
We follow Gustavo, a tortured widower, as he struggles with his inner demons to decide whether he will visit his wife Lucinda’s grave, which he has abandoned for several years, or drink his sorrows away alone.
The story also follows Lucinda as she rises from her grave and hopelessly waits with the rest of the dead to see if her husband will come to her this year. She tells her dead companions that if he does not make it by midnight she will never return again to celebrate the holiday, and will fall into the dark world of the dead forever.
This is a story about loyalty, tradition, honor, and above all things love. It explores how we deal with life after death and the undying bond we hold with those who have passed. The film displays how one can conquer guilt, find forgiveness, embrace celebration, and realize that love is never dead.
