03-27-12 – Atlanta, GA>Birmingham, AL – We’re looking for a third player, somebody who plays upright bass (one of those goofy Dearmond things with the rubber strings would work, too, I suppose, assuming you can play it without getting creeped out), preferably, a girl who can sing some lonesome harmonies.
We practice after 8 on Sunday nights at a church (it’s after everybody clears out, so we have the place to ourselves, but I wanted to warn you in case churches are an issue for you). We’re not a “Christian band” (whatever that means); we’re just looking for somebody who’s reliable, barely to moderately talented, and who digs folk/old-time/bluegrass/etc, ala Nickel Creek, Vigilantes of Love, Woody Guthrie, Gillian Welch.
To let me know you’re not a spammer, when you reply, please include the answer to this question:
Fill in the blank in this lineage: Woody Guthrie->Bob Dylan->?????
There’s not one right answer, but there’s lots of wrong answers (example: G. Love). Bonus points for a coherent and compelling argument.

It is important to us that not only is the band made up of talented musicians but that we have a strong friendship and get along together well. We have sacrificed
and invested a lot in this band and consider it a business; but we also refrain from taking things too seriously and make sure to always have fun. We are currently getting attention from
labels and booking agencies and are working on booking a tour for early next year.
If you think this band is a good fit for you and want to be a part of it, contact us

We look forward to hearing from you and hope you can be a part of The Nearly Deads future
09-29-11 – Detroit, MI>Cleveland, OH – We are an established modern band looking for horn players. We have a tenor sax player, and we’re looking to expand the horn section to three to five people.
Our musical style ranges from funk, rock, blues and hip-hop to soul.
We have 30 + original songs, and nearly as many covers that find their way into the setlist from time to time.
Rehearsals are Tuesdays and Fridays, from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. This works well for the time being, but we’re willing to adjust the rehearsal schedule for the right musicians.
We typically gig between 1~3 times a month.
We work hard at being as professional as possible, and we expect the same from potential band members.
Bonus points for keyboard or percussion experience.
Check us out:
09-27-11 – Milwaukee, WI>Chicago, IL – our current bassist is stepping down. We need a replacement ASAP!
Our set is currently 7-8 songs. First and foremost is personality. Then, we need someone who likes our music, is talented, and good at taking direction if needed. Bonus points if you’re a quick study.
This isn’t a paying gig. We’re not about that. This is about making bad ass music and havin — Submit Yourself To This Role Now: 1
09-22-11 – Los Angeles, CA>San Diego, CA – Simply put, we need a singer. We have regular gigs at the Kibitz Room and at Suzy’s (Hermosa Beach) and need a new singer to join us. We’re playing covers of mostly 70s, 80s, 90s rock and need someone who can get those Steve Perry and Mike Reno high notes as well as those soulful Paul Rogers tones.
About us: We’ve been playing since February and have already gotten recurring gigs at the two above-mentioned venues. We have drums, bass, and guitar (all male). We all have regular jobs and don’t treat the band like it’s a full-time job. We don’t see the band as a gateway to stardom. We’re three guys who love playing good tunes at bars and we have a great time doing it…and we’re pretty good at it. We’re not playing to supplement our income, we’re not playing because we’re holding onto any kind of rock star dream. In the interest of full disclosure, our singer left because she had anxiety issues and wasn’t every comfortable with the music or performing live…not because of any weird personality conflicts or drama. We’re a very low-drama group. We’re playing ZZ Top, Journey, Bad Company, Loverboy, Stone Temple Pilots, Weezer, Black Crowes, Mellencamp, Bryan Adams, Cheap Trick, etc.
About you: You love to sing. You love to perform. Maybe you’ve been in a band, maybe you haven’t. Bonus points if you can play keyboard. You don’t “need” the band to supplement your income or won’t become concerned about gigging more than a few times a month because you need the money. You’re personable, funny, and easy to get along with. — Submit Yourself To This Role Now: 1
08-15-11 – Philadelphia, PA>New York City, NY – I put this up before but apparently I didn’t do it right, sooooo
We are an original rock band looking for a bassist to complete our line-up. Right now our guitarist is doing double duty, and we’ve got good stuff from i, but we need someone. We have a slew of originals, a place to reherse, a bunch of shows under our belt, with more to come, management, crew and travel opportunities. We have a bunch of different influences and play pretty much any style. We all play something, we all write music and lyrics, and we’ve all got alot of experience at this.
We are looking for someone between 21-30, who has experience, chops, gear, has no problem playing in E flat, and can bring songs, ideas and lyrics to the table. We’re a democracy, we all contribute. Bonus points if you play 5 string, fretless, slap and dig the bass wah! Double bonus if you drive. Triple bonus points if you have a good look and stage presence(we are putting on a show after all).
We do NOT want flakey people who are in like 8 different bands and can’t commit, anyone with drug or drink issues, beginners, ego maniacs, guitarists (we only need one), racists, sexists or homophobes.
We’re serious about what we do and want to go somewhere with it NOW. Now is the time and there is no time to waste. If you want to create and original interesting music & art, put on a great show, travel, have fun, make friends, and get paid for it, we’re your band.
Send us some basic info about yourself to break the ice. What styles you play, who do you love, name age, links if you got em, what kind of gear you use(we’re all gear nuts), myspace, facebook whatever.
Seriously, don’t send us like a one sentence reply or just your number or hello, that’s stupid. Details people, we don’t have time to play tag on the internet.

08-08-11 – Seattle, WA>Portland, OR – Want to create a dream poppy trio and perform some songs I’ve written and write new ones. Think Beach House, Blonde Redhead, Elliott Smith, Beatles, Grandaddy. Want a synth/keys player and a drummer, preferably around my age.
Me: 27 yr old, play guitar/keys/sing. I write and record a lot of stuff. I want to get a trio going to play some of the things I’ve written, write new stuff, and play. I will post links to some of the songs I’d want to play at the end of this, but I don’t necessarily want this project to sound exactly like the recordings. I’d want to see how we can play these songs, and create more, with a three piece.
Need: Synth/keys player, bonus points for vocal ability. Knowledge of chord structure and a good ear are major plusses. You would be playing a lot of chordal/pad type stuff, and it would be awesome if you could handle bass duties as well with multiple synths or a split synth.
Need: Drummer- I don’t know much about drumming, but I know that I really love what the Blonde Redhead drummer does. If you could do stuff like that, it would be awesome, but mostly, you just have to want to play and practice.
Links to some of my music.
There are more recordings at that site. Remember, I don’t necessarily want this project to sound like these recordings, but I’d like to play some of these songs, and they give you an idea of my writing style. Contact me if you are interested and you want to give it an honest shot. Hope to hear from you. — Submit Yourself To This Role Now: 1
