11-28-11 – Chicago, IL>Milwaukee, WI – CANDY TOWN is a whitefaced, bowler-hatted musical group, playing original material which draws stylistically from Kurt Weill, Tom Waits and the Beatles…the presentation very theatrical, with elements of vaudeville and burlesque. We’ve been together for about a year, playing at Martyrs, Reggie’s, the University Club, the Beat Kitchen, the Everleigh Club, the Hungry Brain, the Ace Bar and the Viaduct Theater.
As this band is theatrically oriented, I direct it like theatre…and although I’ll want to showcase the particular strengths of the musicians I work with, I should note that I’m not looking for song-writing collaborators…I have too much material of my own which I’m eager to unpack. That said, it’s ensemble-driven in presentation, allowing the opportunity for the performers to be as wild or as subdued onstage as they always wanted to be when dreaming of show-biz, as children. — Submit Yourself To This Role Now: 1
