02-11-12 – San Francisco, CA>Reno, NV – We are a four piece band that plays Indie/Celtic/Punk/Folk type music. Our line up includes a singer/guitarist, a bassist that also plays guitar, a guitar/keyboard/clarinet player and a drummer.
We are looking for a violinist who could also play other instruments if the song in particular calls for it. Accordion, mandolin and banjo come to mind we’re but open to anything. Background vocals and/or occasional lead vocals would be ideal.
Some points of reference for sounds are: The Pogues, The Clash, The Walkabouts, Jawbreaker, The Waterboys, Two Gallants, The Saints & Bob Dylan.
We have a rehearsal studio at Secret Studios that we share with another band and we usually practice once a week, either on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.
We are looking for a full-time fifth member who would have input on songwriting, band expenses, etc.

I have lots of original material waiting for YOU to add YOUR parts. Not a dictator, I prefer to present a piece and let YOU develop YOUR part, YOUR way (as long as it fits and sounds great!), and I expect the same consideration when it comes to my developing parts to fit what you bring to the table.

There’s odd-time stuff, weird twists, unorthodox arrangements, atmospherics, trippy parts… To summarize I’d say it sounds like original music from someone who has spent 4 decades following Rush, Floyd, and other bands that tend toward the strange. It’s weird but, its my kinda weird.

Plans are to develop and record an album or three (the sky’s the limit), work up some interesting/fun covers, and get out to play, whether House of Blues open mics, local clubs, regional festivals, biker rallys, etc… I’m 49 years old, a professional career with Summer off, and no illusions concerning fortune, fame, or stardom. That being said, its awhile since I’ve had a band, I miss playing live, miss jamming, and just wanna have fun doing my own thing with some like-minded folk!

It’d be fun to maybe take it to the streets as well and occasionally busk downtown. I enjoy hearing a couple melody instruments playing together, which is why I’m looking for accordion player etc. Something along those lines. My current repertoire is about 50 tunes by heart, a mix of Irish and Scottish. I enjoy playing in sessions as well, but am looking for something a bit more fun and informal.
