03-04-11 – Birmingham, AL>Atlanta, GA – Bass player wanted in Helena, AL. We’ve got a big house to jam in any time of the week before 10pm. We’ve written some great originals (without words thus far), 6 or 7 of ‘em. Our singer has been filling in on bass up to this point but can’t really sing and play at the same time. Also bass is kind of a second instrument to him. We’re looking for someone who plays like a pro, which means skilled but not so far off-balance with their “skills” that they are like a lead bass player. Been there, done that. Beyond annoying. Also what we’re looking for is someone open-minded to more than just super heavy music. There seems to be a deficit in this area of musicians who aren’t big into metal. The closest we will possibly ever come to metal is the original metal such as the first 4 Black Sabbath albums. We want to play chill music from time to time, get funky, jazzy or bluesy from time to time. And at the same time don’t plan to play many tunes that a typical bar band would play. All that being said, when we’re not practicing our originals we’ve been jamming to the likes of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, CCR, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, Wilco, My Morning Jacket, Muse, The Beatles, The Who, Sublime, Jane’s Addiction, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana and Blind Melon to name a few.
