10-30-11 – Miami, FL>Orlando, FL – Our band, The Jean Marie (), recently lost our drummer and we are looking for a suitable replacement.
Must be between 23 and 30 years old. Must have some sort of formal training and professional experience. A background in classical percussion or marching band is not required but would be a plus. Also, double kick experience not necessary but would be another bonus.
Must have a solid foundation in rock drumming as well as the ability to play a variety of different styles. We are looking for someone who is talented, has a professional attitude, and loves to make music. And has their own gear.
A little info on us: We were a trio before we lost our drummer. Our elevator pitch is that we play “brutal dance rock” and we have been compared to Elvis Costello, The Talking Heads, TV on the Radio, and others. The band has been together for about five years in a variety of different configurations. We originally formed in Miami, FL where we both graduated from the University of Miami’s Jazz Department. We both have degrees in jazz performance and I also have a degree in music engineering. We have opened for several national acts including: Bloc Party, The B52′s, Tokyo Police Club, The Noisettes, Flock of Seagulls, and others. We have also played several festivals including Rothbury, Trinumeral, and Langerado (despite the fact that we are NOT a jam band).
Our band is currently working with a Publishing / Licensing company out of LA which has, within the last couple months, landed four of our songs on MTV’s Jersey Shore and one song on ABC’s Cougar Town. We are looking for a drummer who both dislikes these shows but also understands the importance of having our material placed in them.
We also just recently started working with a booking agency in NYC and have a couple gigs coming up soon so we are in a bit of a time crunch.
