07-13-11 – Portland, OR>Seattle, WA – I am looking for a bassist and a drummer to form a three piece band, possibly adding a pianist later on.
I play acoustic guitar. I have studied guitar in college, and know my way around theory and all that, enough to call myself a musician with a certain degree of chops.
I sing. I currently get gigs as a solo guitarist in restaurants and bars, singing Grateful Dead, Beatles, Sublime…I cover a wide range of genres.

But what I like doing the most is covering old school rap and hip hop songs. Most of NWA’s members, Snoop, Beastie Boys, Cypress Hill, Skee-Lo. I plan on learning some Too $hort, Eminem, Naughty By Nature, more Ice Cube, Eazy-E, and Dre. My plan is to have a vast repetoire of these kinds of songs. Tightly knit reconstructions of rap songs played acoustically.

When I learn these song I don’t normally copy what happens on the recording. I come up with a riff or chord progression that repeats through the whole song. I am looking for musicians who would enjoy being repetitive in a sense, gelling with my guitar to form a sick groove to rap over, most of the time. I would prefer that those who respond be highly competent on their instrument and have strong experience as a performer.

Seeking versatile local bassist with vocal ability for working, original Jam/Rock/R&B band. Our current bassist is taking himself off the road after Feb. We’re looking for a team player with pro gear, pro chops, great sense of humor, and desire to tour.

In the past year we’ve played shows/festivals with such acts as Cypress Hill, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, New Mastersounds, Cornmeal, Dumpstaphunk, Zoogma, Space Capone, and a variety of other unique groups. We have shows booked and are not looking for hired guns.
