12-22-11 – Detroit, MI>Cleveland, OH – Hi,
I am trying to start a band. So far it’s just me (on rythm) and a friend (on drums). We don’t have a paticular style chosen or anything.
My influences are: A7x, three days grace, disturbed, godsmack, ect… more in the alternative rock category
My friends influences are: Rush, Tool, Porcipine Tree, Dream Theater, ect… more in the progressive rock category
We are willing to go in any direction which is most favorable for the whole band (once we get it together)
I have been playing guitar for about 2 years and I can say that I’m decent (particularly good at campfire songs as all I’ve had to practice with was an acoustic)
My friend has been playing drums for about the same and picks up on songs fast (knows alot about music theory)
We’ve only jammed 3 times so far but every time gets better and better
Covers we’ve done so far are: A7x – so far away, and Custom – Hey Mister (These aren’t exactly what we plan to sound like it’s just what we were already able to do)
Trying to stick with somewhat easy songs and continue progressing. Plus I have to sing and play which I’m only just starting to get good at.
We don’t need you to be amazing just good, open (as in not restricted to playing other generas) and dedicated to wanting to get better.
We also want people who are serious and don’t beat around the bush.
We plan on just getting together about once or twice a week.
We have jam space, equipment, and recording gear.
We would like to stay in a general age range of 18 – 24 but not opposed to older or younger players.
