12-03-10 – New York City, NY>Philadelphia, PA – Ex Oblivion is a local progressive/melodic death metal band from central New Jersey and we may be in need of another guitarist. We technically have three guitarists for this band – the vocalist plays rhythm and there are two leads for doing harmonized leads/solos/solo battles/what have you and one of our two leads is not putting forth the commitment we need. All we ask is that you be available for at least one day a week to practice and that you always be available for shows. We’re in the habit of giging about two or three times a month and if someone’s missing, it’s fairly stressful for our vocalist to play leads and do vocals simultaneously.

What we’re looking for is someone whom at least has a decent amount of experience playing in a band setting as well as playing live. It is not imperative that you have “pro” gear as long as you have enough to fill out your space of the stereo field then we’ll be happy. Other than that, we just require a good attitude. We do not put up with primadonnas or anyone with an inflated sense of ego. We are a group of cool, down to earth guys (and one girl) who just like playing heavy music and having fun.

Our vocalist and lead guitarist both play seven strings and it is not necessary, but will definitely be looked upon favorably if you play a seven string. We play in A# standard (and Drop G# for a few songs) and due to the nature of our music, have need for three guitarists (even though that may seem absurd to some) – note that there will be several times when everyone plays simultaneously, but usually it’s to have a beefier live sound with two rhythm guitars, but it also allows us to be able to do harmonized sections and still have the bass, drums and guitars still carrying the rhythm during these sections (which are frequent). We play a style along the lines of Dark Tranquillity, Arch Enemy, The Absence, Insomnium and (old) In Flames, but draw influence from everywhere. Full-length instrumental and full samples/songs are available upon request. We have also taken the time to create powertab files of all of our material so that there is a very direct and clear way to lear — Project Type: 1
