value for live shows.

03-02-12 – Detroit, MI>Cleveland, OH – Match by Match is looking to cement their new line-up and new sound with the addition of a cello player/multi-instrumentalist!
With the release of their debut album, American Crowbar, Match by Match garnered acclaim and recognition throughout eastern Michigan in the pages of Encore Michigan, the Ann Arbor Current, and the Onion Club. The album was developed into a musical by the New Theatre Project and is now being optioned by the Purple Rose Theatre of Chelsea for a possibly staging in its 2013/14 season.
With Crowbar in our tail-lights, Match by Match is spending the summer playing show, recording, and tweaking the formula to embrace a more rock oriented, electrified sound and we’re looking for a CELLIST to fill out the line up.
A classical background and the ability to read and write music is encouraged, but not required. More important is the ability to write your own parts, play with intuition, improvise, and really feel a vibe on a particular song. Must have a love for playing live.
Additional things we like (but are not required):
- Able to sing/harmonize.
- Ability to play other instruments (guitar, violin, percussion, sousaphone, etc.)
- A working knowledge of rock and pop music.
- Ability to play “Julie-O” and really feel it.
- Overall excitement and creativity.
Must have your own gear and be able to tweak your sound as needed to compensate for different sound systems/PAs.
NO HIRED GUNS. The band is still building buzz and trying to craft a sound, so we’re looking for a collaborator, not an employee. With that, we will compensate you when we ourselves get paid, but cannot guarantee a steady paycheck. We’re looking for someone who’ll play mostly for the love of it and work with us to create something unique.
