08-25-11 – Los Angeles, CA>San Diego, CA – We are looking to hire a “minimalist” jazz band for our wedding reception and dinner. The event will be on February 11, 2012, at the El Capitan Canyon Cabins. Because of the venue, it needs to be pretty mellow. Ideally, we would like a two piece band (, surf guitar and drums) or three piece band (, drums, up-right bass, and trumpet, guitar, or piano) to play straight-ahead, 1950s/early 1960s style jazz (, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Dave Brubeck, Herbie Hancock, and Thelonius Monk) or 1950s/early 1960s style “surf-jazz” (, The Mattson 2 or, more generally, heavy reverb guitar plus drums). 05-24-11 – Phoenix, AZ>Las Vegas, NV – I’m a 24 year old guitarist looking for Metal and/or Jazz musicians who want to turn Jazz Standards into Metal/Metalcore. This is in no way meant to discredit the greatness of the Jazz Standards that have been around for decades, but instead to introduce them to a younger audience. Metalcore music (Killswitch Engage, All That Remains, August Burns Red etc *my personal favorite Misery Signals*) and the various other styles of Metal music is popular within todays youth (I grew up listening to it and still love it to this day) and there are many Jazz elements to some of the music.
My ambition is to take Jazz Standards and give them a Metalcore sound (breakdowns, clean and heavy vocals, clean melodic guitar riffs, downtuned guitars etc). I think in order to do this it requires talented musicians of both genres of music and similar influences as well. My personal favorite Metalcore bands are Misery Signals, For the Fallen Dreams, The Ghost Inside, Killswitch Engage, Parkway Drive, Oceana, It Prevails, etc etc I’ve probably heard of every metal band you’ve heard of (both good and bad) and listen to this music regularly.
As for Jazz, I listen to a wide range of it. From Be-Bop to Modern Jazz. From Bill Evans to Oscar Peterson. From Miles Davis to John Coltrane. From Joe Pass to Pat Metheny.
Some of the Jazz Standards I like to play are: My Funny Valentine, Misty, Ghost of a Chance, All the Things You Are and Bye Bye Blackbird.
Again, my main goal is to make Metalcore arrangements of these songs in order to share with others who are not aware of these Jazz classics. And who knows, maybe if we sound good enough we can make some originals in both genres of music.
If anybody is interested in doing this, please . I am seeking a pianist.

03-02-11 – Chicago, IL>St Louis, MO – Hello there, I am booking a show in the Bloomingtion/ Bedford area for two touring bands that will be coming through town either mid-late March or early. April As these bands may not be well known in the area we are hoping to book at least two locals in order to help bring in an audience. These bands are christian metal/ hard core acts (DELAMOUR, 1 TBA) but this doesn’t mean that your band has to be of the same genre or beliefs. Just keep in mind we are looking for acts that cater to an all ages crowd, that is open minded, and can play anywhere from a twenty to thirty minute set. Nothing against bar bands but you may not cater to all ages and I love jazz but maybe your John Coltrane quartet may not fit in with the other acts. If this is a show your band would like to play then feel free to call me at the number below anytime but no texting as I may be driving. You will either be opening or headlining depending on when the touring bands need to head out. I live in the Bloominton/ Bedford area so I can help with advertising for the show such as making fliers, contacting local media, etc. Also any info on where would the best location to host the show would help. A barn out in the middle of no where wouldn’t work and no bars as again this is an all ages show. The best location(s) would be anywhere that is familiar, has a large open space, in town, and has great acoustics. I know there is RHINOS but there are too many reasons as to why we can’t have the show there. We will be bringing are a PA system so we’ve got that covered and we are aiming to have this show on either a friday or a saturday. There is one downside and that is this is a benifit tour since we and another band we were on tour with in December wrecked both our vans during a snow storm and are needing new equipment, vans, etc. So pay for your act may be small if at all depending on the turn out, sorry but feel free to bring merch. Thanks, .
