02-07-12 – Detroit, MI>Cleveland, OH – We are looking for a dj to round out our sound. As the name implies, we are primarily a funk band, but we also play ska, reggae and some rock. We will be mixing some fairly well known covers into our mix, but we are looking for musicians that have the skills and creativity to collaborate on some new music. Our goal is to become the go-to band for danceable, high energy party music.
We would like to gig 2-3 times per month. We will practice twice per week (in A2) until we get into maintenance mode. One practice will be on a weekend afternoon and the other will be on a weekday evening.

Synopsis: Godspell was conceived and originally directed by John Michael Tebelak, and offers music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz. One of the biggest off-Broadway and Broadway successes of all time, Godspell is based primarily on the Gospel According to St. Matthew. As the cast of actors makes its way through “Prepare Ye The Way Of The Lord,” “Save The People,” “Learn Your Lessons Well,” “Bless the Lord,” “All For The Best,” “All Good Gifts,” “Turn Back, O Man” and “By My Side,” audience members get to see the parables of Jesus Christ come humanly and hearteningly to life. The show also touchingly presents the story of Jesus’ last moments beginning with the Last Supper.
The main story of Godspell is portrayed in the show’s subtext–in the way the players interact with their leader, coming together to create a loving community by sharing stories about living good lives and singing about love, joy, gratitude, judgment and redemption, the group of disparate individuals band together with a common purpose to face challenges and obstacles as they are tested along the way.

Audition Requirements: Please bring clothing and shoes suitable for movement. Be prepared to sing a song, and bring your music (there will also be music available on site for those that do not have their own). There will be a pianist available at auditions, and all songs must be sung with piano accompaniment. Aaron Dowd here again. Chris White and I are looking for a couple more members (dudes or ladies) to complete our pop/punk band, Patterns To Preserve.

We are looking for guitar, bass, and maybe keys (and everyone sings). If you can do all three, even better.

Both Chris and I take this very seriously.

We spend our free time practicing our instruments (Chris plays everything, such a dick), learning recording/mixing, doing research, learning new songs, writing, ect.

We don’t have time for partying or drinking, and we hope that you feel the same way about music as we do.

We both have MacBooks and basic recording gear, and are demoing songs every week. We are going to have an EP recorded (at a studio) by the end of the year, and will be playing shows and working towards a full length. We practice mid-day on weekends at my house in central weatherford.

The Wonder Years, Set Your Goals, A Wilhelm Scream, Rx Bandits, mewithoutYou, Bayside, Comeback Kid, Four Year Strong, Bomb The Music Industry, Blink, Bad Religion, Tigers Jaw, Make Do and Mend, Iron Chic, The Mars Volta, Look Mexico, Motion City Soundtrack, Polar Bear Club, Say Anything.
Dislikes;

People that think image is more important than musical skill.
People that think that music will make them rich.
Bands that dress up to play shows.
People that are close minded about new and diverse styles of music.
Here are our requirements (non-negotiable);
No drugs! No drinking at or before practice or shows.
19 and older.
You need to either be attending college or working at least part time.
You need to respect and care for your body. That means exercising, not over-eating, ect.
You gotta love all styles of music, not just bands that sound like the music we play.
You gotta love singing in front of people and playing shows.
You must have a car.
You need to have a decent setup. Not pro (although you should be shooting for that goal) but at least a midrange setup that you love the sound of.
At least 5 years of playing experience.
You need to be comfortable playing relatively fast (180bm), and to a click track.
You need to have some way to record demos (small interface, garage band, ect.).
It would be nice if you write songs or riffs. But that’s not mandatory.
