01-29-12 – Los Angeles, CA>San Francisco, CA – We are a New Orleans-style funk band called Groove-Elation. We have been practicing for about two years with some gigs but our guitar player had to leave the area. We have a solid rhythm section (bass, drums, and Hammond organ) and know about 20 tunes. We are seeking a guitar player, possibly with a jazz background. We do covers right now of artists such as the Meters, New Mastersounds, John Schofield, and Jimmy Smith. This a fun, positive project with good players and groovin’ music. The guitar is fairly straightforward with syncopated rhythms and solos.
We have a studio and practice at Rippin’ Rehearsal in Nipomo approx 6:30-9:30 one day a week and are flexible on which day. We are ready to gig but need to get a guitar player up to speed. You are welcome to come check us out at rehearsal. We ask that the guitar take the time to learn the songs on his/her own time so we can refine at group rehearsal and gig ASAP. Think The New Mastersounds, The Jive Turkeys, Medeski, Martin, Wood, Scofield, if you don’t know those bands – you’re missing out! We’ll also stray into some experimental and ambient territories with Fender Rhodes sounds, dub delay on the keys, house influenced music or trip-hop sounds- but again, mostly traditional organ funk.
