10-27-11 – New York City, NY>Philadelphia, PA – is a project in which I wrote and recorded one song for every chapter of Moby-Dick. The blog got attention from the New York Times and WNYC’s Soundcheck, as well as numerous smaller blogs and organizations in the music, literary, and Melville communities.
Call Me Ishmael is the live act created to play those songs. Jeff (drums), Kevin (lead guitar), and I (vocals) have been rehearsing for a month or so, and we’re starting to book shows for December.
We need a bassist to play with us. Vocal abilities are welcome and will be heavily called upon. You will get an even cut of whatever we make at the door, and should we eventually decide to record a live album, you will get an even cut of that as well.
We intend to have shows booked for December, so we’re looking for someone who’s able to jump right in and learn the songs. We practice as a band once a week — the rest of your rehearsal is up to you.
Write with a brief description of your experience and, if possible, a link to something you’ve played.
Best Wishes,
Patrick, Jeff, and Kevin
