10-21-11 – Seattle, WA>Portland, OR – Hi,

I’ve got a 30-minute time slot booked for a singer-songwriter showcase on January 21 in Redmond and would like to get some musicians together to help flesh out the songs. The showcase will be streamed live on the internet, so it’s a pretty cool opportunity.

Seems best to start with a drummer and build from there. I would handle rhythm guitar and vocals. I live in North Seattle and am in my early 30′s. No practice space, but I’m looking into hourly rentals for now.

My music is very pop-rock oriented, with a neon-black undercurrent of emo. Biggest songwriting influence is Ben Folds, sans piano. Other influences include Death Cab, Collective Soul and Beck. I’d eventually like to develop a (relatively) heavier sound collaborating with other musicians. Heavy as in…maybe something along the lines of Presidents of the USA meets The Killers. 09-18-11 – Seattle, WA>Portland, OR – looking for a fluid guitarist with back-up vox to start a fun, laid-back, melodic, “alt-rock” dynamic duo type of thing for the occasional local gig, but mostly for our own amusement. Whether it’s playing originals or some fun cover songs, if it clicks – that’s cool with me. I’m looking for someone I can relate with age-wise, which falls in the early to mid 30′s range.
Back-up vocals are a key dynamic for this project. I write a lot of catchy songs with repetitive choruses that require vocal harmonies. Plus, I really like the sound of an electric guitar with just a touch of distortion for accenting the leads. Kinda like what John Fruciante did with the Chili Peppers or Greg Sage & The Wipers.
I have played in punk bands for a good chunk of my life, but the majority of what I’ve been doing lately has been acoustic. Though my influences stem from The Ramones, Hüsker Dü, Social D & Sonic Youth, lately I’ve been more inspired by The Jayhawks, Velvet Underground, Johnny Cash, Neil Young & to name a few.
I have a ton of original material, know quite a few cover songs & I’m open to collaborating on new stuff. I know a few pubs we could try this thing out at & a band or 2 we could open up for.
