03-12-12 – Atlanta, GA>Columbia, SC – Hi my name is Nathan i am 20 yrs old I have been playing the guitar for 11 years I play mostly metal and post grunge acoustic my influences are Pantera, Metallica, Megadeath, Days of the New, Lamb of God, Joe Satriani, Slayer, Mastodon and Alice in Chains just to name a few. I am looking for a whole band (guitarist, bassist, vocals, drummer) guitarist needs to be close to my skill level so we can harmonize and lock in riffs good. I messed up my fretting hand about a year ago in a car wreck and just now getting close to my old standard to where I can solo again etc. I have original acoustic songs without lyrics and have fairly nice equipment (Vox half stack, Schecter blackjack, Takamine acoustic electric) very serious about music going to make it to the top no matter what. But just like everyone else that has a family I have to work but I am open on days off usually 2 to 4 days a week. I am seeking an EXPERIENCED, TALENTED guitar player for private lessons, male or female. I would like to do an initial lesson (paid), and if things work out we can arrange a weekly time. This is probably a longer-term commitment.
LOCATION: My brownstone apartment, two minutes walk from the Prudential T stop.
RATE: I will initially pay $10 for an hour lesson once weekly, possibly more in the future depending on how the lessons go and how well I’m progressing.
HOURS: During summer on Saturday or Sunday, afternoons preferred. Starting September, could do Mon or Wed mornings as well.
PARTICULARS: I have a small, elderly dog, and my husband could be in or out of the apartment, although I presume he would go to work during the lesson. You need to have knowledge of not just playing the guitar, but how to communicate that knowledge to another person and coach them through the process of learning. Knowledge of how to properly tune guitar also needed.

I’m Stephanie, a 26 year old theatre graduate student. I have always wanted to learn to play the acoustic guitar–the family guitar has been sitting around literally since I can remember, and none of us have ever played it. I attempted many years ago to take a guitar class and learned about two chords total. I was not satisfied with the group setting, and I never practiced….oops! However, I have lugged the guitar here to Boston from Utah on a recent visit home, and am DETERMINED to learn. My goal is to be able to play simple songs by known artists (Dylan, Velvet Underground, Beatles, so on), as well as children’s tunes for sing-alongs, since I work with kids. Perhaps I could eventually learn to improvise on the guitar or to write my own songs, for use in my work with children. For now, however, I am concentrating on the goal of being able to play something proficiently by my favorite artist, David Bowie. Since I sing, I eventually want to be able to sing while I play. I have taken music theory in the past, and played piano for two years (bleh!), so I know that I have some degree of musical ability that just really needs to be motivated by having fun while playing and doing it MY way, ie not a chore or obligation!
