Synopsis

When George Bernard Shaw completed Mrs. Warren’s Profession in 1893, the critics and public were outraged by its content, and the show was immediately censored and banned. At its 1905 New York premiere, the play’s cast was summarily tossed into jail. Subsequently, the play didn’t see the light of day for another two decades.
Thankfully, Ridgefield Theater Barn’s production of Shaw’s timeless and controversial comedy-drama will be less likely to draw the police but just as likely to draw in the crowds for its frequently funny and at times confrontational view on the corruption and hypocrisy of society.

Young, Cambridge-educated Vivie Warren may be financially independent and live in considerable comfort, but it’s her independent spirit and joie de vivre that drive her to want to be a success in her own right. That sumptuous comfort is provided courtesy of her distant mother, Kitty, a rags-to-riches success in a secretive business who travels the world and has seen little of her daughter. 07-15-11 – San Francisco, CA>Reno, NV – I play guitar and I have a bassist or 2nd guitarist available. Influences are: black keys, led zepp, alice in chains, radiohead, black sabbath, hendrix, ween, floyd, moe, police, sublime, pearl jam, white stripes, chili peppers, rush, the who, and lots more. My rig includes a fender strat, fender hot rod deluxe 40watt tube amp, ample delay and crunch with a vox wah. I also sing okay but it would be cool if you could sing too.
I am 38 yrs old and although age isnt that big of a deal I think it important to know that:
- I have a full time job
- I can only play nights on weekdays or all day on weekends (depending on schedule)
- I do not know tons of covers and I am not a shredder (been playing about 13 years), but I do have a good ear and I listen very well
- I want to focus mainly on making up new songs and jamming. Thats the fun part
- Gigging is a definite possibility if all goes well
