08-25-11 – Portland, OR>Seattle, WA – I recently recorded a six-song CD of old-skool blues and jazzy originals, now I am looking for musicians in the area who interested in rehearsing and performing regularly.
We are not talking about endless I-IV-V shuffles, but actual songs by artists such as Guitar Slim, T-Bone Walker, BB King, Albert Collins, and many others.
Knowledge of theory/harmony as well as familiarity with country blues, electric blues, rhythm and blues and jazz/blues is important, as is the ability to play the appropriate part on any given song and listen to guidance in this area (ie if you are playing the wrong part i will tell you).
I sing and play guitar as well as writing and arranging– if you have a good voice and have some originals or other tunes that fit in, you will have your chance to shine. Need bass and drums, and either a keyboard player or 2nd guitar as i like to be able to concentrate on singing when i am singing. If you are a guitar player, you must be a great rhythm player. If so, you will get your chance to solo.
First and foremost i am looking for a bassist, other musicians can be found or hired as we go.
The idea, of course, is performing and getting paid on a regular basis– however you must be willing to put in the work first.
I have a really nice rehearsal spot, it is 20-25 min out of town so you need a car. Must be able to commit to at least two rehearsals a week.

07-30-11 – Dallas, TX>Austin, TX – Greetings Fellow Musicians,
I’m male 43 singer song writer who lives and works in NRH. I’ve written some pretty catchy lyrics, with good hooks and original tunes; putting a new twist on old styles. However these songs were really written for a full band.
Most of what I’m writing now is Southern Fried Rock, Rockabilly, Rhythm and Blues with maybe a dash of Folk. But I’d also like to sing a few choice covers that haven’t been played to death over the radio; mainly Cash, Petty, Dylan, Young, etc.
My lyrics are about girls, gears and God. Bet you thought I’d say guns, I don’t own a gun, but I’ve been married 20 years to the same girl, fixed many gears and give God all the thanks for it all.
I’m looking for anything and everything horns, keys, drums, bass, lead/rhythm, rhythm/lead, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, hand percussionist, female back up who can throw in some lead now and them. All players must be comfortable playing any genre, since I never know what I’ll write until it’s happening and then it can turn out to be almost any of the above.
I feel that bass and drums are the heart of the music and you’ve got to have a good bass line melody to carry any tune. I’ve already written the bass parts but if you’re a creative bass player that helps. My idea of bass is a regular electric or up right with built in pickup, NOT these new acoustic basses they just don’t have a big enough body to carry the low frequencies and sound too weak.
Also I’ve got a thing for classic 60s and 70s keys, so if you got the drawbar, Rhodes, Clavinet or Wurlitzer sound you won’t be bored.
Would like to play in non-smoking environments, like coffee bars, restaurants, non-smoking bars, out door events and churches.
Anyway if you feel led to contact me, shoot me a line.
I’ve got a room inside an office in back of my retail location on Rufe Snow after 8pm on week days and all day Sunday. It’s not big enough for a full band but it’s big enough to get started in. After we get some gigs we can rent a secure practice space.
Peace to you whether or not you feel this is your cut of tea.
Remember tolerance is not about finding something in common with your neighbor it’s about accepting what’s different.
