11-02-11 – Los Angeles, CA>San Diego, CA – Film editor position
TV Show filmed and produced in Santa Barbara needs an editor to help re-edit a 30 minute TV Show that is now airing into a 60 minute show. Parts of the original film needs to be a inserted to create a longer format for a major network. The producer will work with you to capture the footage to enhance the current episodes airing now in 30 minute format to fill out the plot, characters, and story of the show to make an excellent 60 minute version of the show. The show is airing on the central coast 13 times a week and is on ABC. There is an excellent opportunity to take the show nationally. A talented editor has a great future with this production studio. Editor must also have knowledge of filming, lighting, sound since we sometimes need to film. The first couple months will have an emphasis on editing, then filming will be a major portion of the position for awhile as more episodes are created.
Must have:
-Excellent Knowledge of Final Cut Pro on Macs.
-Experience in video editing and graphics.
-Experience with video production equipment, including cameras, audio and lighting.
-Knowledge of the laying down music into the final show
-Must be a team player with drive, dedication and a positive attitude, someone with a “whatever it takes to get the job done” approach.
-Ability to work independently with little direction and be able to stay on task.
-Ability to think strategically and work tactically.
-Attention to detail, organization and creativity on a strict deadline.
-Ability to work well, creatively with the producer and understand quickly the jist of the show, and be able to edit in a style that fits the character of the show.
Pluses:
-Knowledge of “After Effects”
-Other graphic design knowledge to create interesting transitions
-Graphic arts programs
Hours are 9 am to 6 pm weekdays. We shoot film after work and on weekends, but that’s ocassionally. We have a great team, and start of with Lattes and tea in the morning, sometimes have a team meeting, then off we go to push forward. We have a great lunch all together that is prepared for everyone working. It’s a wonderful team spirit, with terrific people. The show has terrific potential and is taking off very fast.

These are internships for students who would like to gain experience on a successful TV show, part time is OK. There are no guarantees of ultimately being hired.
