About the group:
Our music is of the people for the people. We play many forms of Afro-Caribbean music including: Mambo, Cumbia, Salsa, Tango, Latin Jazz, and much more. Music that makes one feel good and want to celebrate life.
We bring our music to the people, to enrich lives with something more “musically diverse” than what can be found on today’s mainstream radio. We perform at restaurants, clubs, festivals, schools, cultural events and of course – private parties! We had our first public performance in May 2008 and have been celebrating life with our music ever since.
That being said reread the first line, our music is of the people for the people, we play at schools, festivals, and cultural events. We are between 13 piece group, when there is money its not going to be a lot. You must have a day job because you’re not going to get a lot of money from gigs. You must have your own equipment because we’re not going to buy it for you. The talent in this group ranges from part time musicians to professional touring musicians and everything in between. Please check your ego at the door. The core of this group has been playing together for almost 3 years now. We are a fun group of people to hang out with who aren’t afraid to make fun of each other but when its time to work, its time to work. 08-04-11 – Dallas, TX>Austin, TX – We play a variety of latin musical styles: Latin Jazz, Mambo’s, Cumbia’s, Cha Cha, Tango, Salsa, etc. Most of what we play you will no longer hear on the radio. We play the music of Celia Cruz, Rosemary Clooney, Ray Barretto, Wilie Colon, Spanish Harlem Orchestra and many others. Needless to say vocalists need to be able to sing those styles in Spanish and English. We play at festivals, parks, charity events, dances, schools and weddings, etc. Being that our focus is the music not all of our performances are paid. Sometimes there’s money but most of the time there’s not. Think about it, we are a 12 piece group when there is money its not going to be much. Please understand the vocalist is a part of a larger ensemble, we don’t need vocalists, we want them.
