03-23-12 – Chicago, IL>Milwaukee, WI – I am an experienced bass player looking to either form or join an existsting project that falls under the psychedelic/progressive/ hard rock/ metal category! I have played bass for over 17 years, have a lot of experience performing and recording and own professional gear. I am fairly new to Chicago and haven’t been able to find the ideal band yet so I figured I’d post what I would like to do. I am capable of playing many diverse styles and am easy to work with. I am really into bands like The Mars Volta, Opeth, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Frank Zappa, Bungle, jazz (in general particularly 60′s or 70′s fusion) and basically anything that brings something new musically to the table. I would like to find vocals, guitar(s), drums, and maybe a keyboard player to jam and write amazing tunes with. I know these are a wide range of styles but I think with the right people we can make some cool stuff happen. I don’t expect virtuosos but am not looking for amateurs either. 02-06-12 – Boston, MA>Hartford, CT – RIGEL vocalist/keyboardist/programmer and bassist are seeking a guitarist for a new line-up that will put out our 2nd CD later this year (already have songs written & demoed). Looking for a rhythm guitarist who can add “rock ‘n’ crunch” to the music without making it metal per se.
Chemistry & reliability way more important than technical skill, no virtuosos or soloists needed. Must be OK with programmed electronica beats since this is the new direction we’re going in. Please be mature & able to take seriously, older musicians encouraged!
For a general idea of our “old” album’s sound, check out (new songs will have more electronica-based beats).
Influences are all over the map and include numerous artists within the following genres: ’80′s new wave/alternative/synth-pop (Depeche Mode, New Order, Duran Duran), progressive rock (Genesis, Rush, Asia), alt/goth (Peter Murphy, Mission UK), industrial (NIN, Filter, Gravity Kills), hard rock – we could be here all day listing favorite bands!
CD will be followed by an *aggressive* media campaign which will target college/independent radio, music mags, social media, Internet radio, etc. so we’re looking for someone who can help out with the promotional aspects as well.
