12-24-11 – Chicago, IL>Milwaukee, WI – We are looking for singers who have either experience or strong interest in theatre…the performances are highly stylized and usually choreographed. I’m looking specifically for singers who’ve had experience with different parts and harmonic lines, either in choral groups or musicals. I’ve met a lot of singers who have lovely voices, but have difficulty not slipping into other people’s vocal parts.
We’ve yet to create fully-produced records or music videos together…however, here are links to a couple of video shorts which give some sense of what we’re up to…they’re musical sequences from indie movies I’ve directed:
As this band is theatrically oriented, I direct it like theatre…and although I’ll want to showcase the particular strengths of the musicians I work with, I should note that I’m not looking for song-writing collaborators…I have too much material of my own which I’m eager to unpack. That said, it’s ensemble-driven in presentation, allowing the opportunity for the performers to be as wild or as subdued onstage as they always wanted to be when dreaming of show-biz, as children.
