I am looking to do something a little progressive in the style of tool, but also want to include some vocal harmonies somewhat like alice in chains. Tasteful double pedal, odd time sig a plus. My guitarist is a rock guy, loves GnR, buckcherry, etc. Bassist loves Rage, Deftones, Muse. We all grew up on everything from classic rock, metal, alternative, so its tough to pinpoint an exact genre. We were working on covers just to get out and start playing, but really want to be creative and write some more original stuff. I’m the oldest at 30, the other guys are 28 and 24. Not that it matters just want to give you guys an idea. We have a jam room in the basement. We are talented but out of practice due to our busy work schedules during the warm months, but now have much more time for music. WE ARE: A 4-piece 60s-70s classic rock cover band (not a tribute band), and we also play a few 80s-90s classic rock covers. We emphasize tight 3-part harmonies to cover the Beatles, Byrds, Eagles, etc.
We rehearse about once a week at my home studio in Mill Valley, usually on a week night, depending on our work schedules. We have our own pro gear, system and transportation.
We gig generally 1-2 times a month on Saturday nights—mostly at bars that pay $250-$300 in San Francisco, San Mateo, Cotati, and other Bay Area cities. We also occasionally play higher-paying private parties. We all have day jobs and play for the love of the music, not to make a living from it or to become rock stars.
YOU ARE: A reliable, mature, and versatile lead guitarist who can sing back-up and harmony and who knows how to blend well with the band’s sound—-no ear-shattering Van Halen arpeggios, soaring Satriani 20-minute solos, or metal shredding–just straight-ahead tasteful leads covering classics by the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Kinks, ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Byrds, Eagles, Tom Petty, Neil Young, Stevie Ray Vaughan, etc.
You are also a non-smoker with no substance abuse issues, drama, or inflated rock star attitude. You also don’t mind being in a band with musicians who are over 50.

12-20-10 – Nashville, TN>Louisville, KY – 17 yr old lead guitar / songwrite seeking musicians to put together a band . Hardcore genre , not Deathcore . I appreciate it but I’m not into playing it . I’m in need of clean vocals , screamer ( no deep growls ) , rythm , bass and drummers . Looking for a drummer who can play independent of the guitars , meaning off time .

Straight up this isn’t a hobby or a “joke” . No drugs or alcohol , not how I roll and they get in the way of success . You have to be serious , commited and prepared to work . I was in a band , we played several shows had some immediate success and had developed a following . Despite that one by one the guys in the band flaked out . It went from being a road to somewhere to a road to nowhere and our shows went from great to embarassing . Not happening again . There’s nothing better than being on the stage but there’s nothing worse than being a joke up there . There’s no room for blowing off practice , spending practice messin around and accepting mediocrity . I’m a perfectionist , music is who I am not what I do .

I have a practice space and stage ready equipment . Practice would be a minimum of two days a week . One evening ( home from school by 3:30 ) and one weekend day . We can work around work schedules but you gotta set aside practice time on your days off .
